All those located in the UK and US, you better be aware of the ongoing phishing scam that is suspected to be propagated by Russian hackers who claim that Oxford Corona Virus Vaccine might turn subjects (people) into monkeys within no time.

Yes, what you’ve read is right as such emails are seen targeting Gmail users with subject-lines saying “Beware of the Oxford COVID-19 Vaccine or Beware of the Oxford Corona Virus Vaccine”.

Security researchers say that such emails are distributed to implant fear and unnecessary chaos in the public and might also be crafted to target the recipients with crypto mining or file encrypting malware or other snooping tools.

Most of the email campaigns are targeting the residents living in and around UK as the content highlights an image where Boris Johnson is seen shown as a Bigfoot (Yeti) and a chimp after being injected by the Oxford Vaccine developed by UK Pharma Company AstraZeneca.

Labeled as a Monkey Vaccine, the email is said to be doing rounds on the web from the past 3 days and a link is also been included in the content that takes the visitor to a video shown on the Russian TV Program Vesti News- equivalent to that of BBC.

BBC has condemned the news reports of Vesti News as baseless and misinformative and said that the news reel was posted only to spread fake news in the west about the negative potential of the vaccine that could be out by March 2021.

Advice from Cybersecurity Insiders- Better avoid such emails with the said subject-lines and if possible, mark them as spam. As it will assist the spam reader’s identifying such malicious emails on time and proceed by weeding out such content at the serve level before it reaches the public.
