Hackers are using fake data to alter critical databases

1272

A new cyber threat is on the horizon where hackers are using fake data to alter critical databases such as stock markets and soil fertility metrics to pronounce devastating consequences.

The sabotaged data could not only spell a doom on a temporary note but could also kick off actions that played out over months and years. For instance, people could end up with failed crops, food shortages, famine and in some cases could never recover from a stock market crash.

What’s even more astounding in this whole cyber threat saga is that the said cyber sabotage has the potential to bring an entire economy to its knees.

Therefore, in such situations, CIOs should not only worry about cyber threats. But also must think about situations where they need to protect data integrity to the fullest.

So, is there a way to deal with this situation which can help bring everything under control…..?

Well, they are already a lot of technical ways to lock down data and documents to thwart the efforts of stealthy attackers who could read and alter them.

But the point is that the organizations which are dealing with such sensitive data should understand what and how they are supposed to deal with. Use of Digital Rights Management (DRM) in organizations is now gaining momentum as it helps in keeping a tab of files and other documents floating around the organization.

On an additional note, use of Blockchain Technology can also help in authenticating contracts and transactions. As it not only helps to secure critical data but also helps in dealing with corporate cloud platforms which are in dispersion mode.

Have more such solutions in mind….?
