Hackers deleted data of Kido Schools

Hackers have deleted data of Kido schools because they faced strict backlash from parents and online users for stealing images of over 8000 children and posting them online. They have also assured that they will not indulge in such activities in the future.

Dubbed as Radiant hacking group linked to a notorious ransomware gang, the criminals started to contact the parents of the kids via telephone to pressurize the school management in deleting data, since last Friday. But for some reason, they changed their stance from Monday this week and later agreed to stop this extortion and decided to delete all the stolen information from servers.

Few media resources state that the hackers might have gained the demanded sum as ransom from hackers, and so chose to delete the data. But there is no supporting evidence for this theory, as the management of Kido Schools outrightly denied paying a ransom, estimated to be about £100,000.

Previously, in a similar instance, when the National Crime Agency took down the servers of LockBit ransomware gang, they discovered large volumes of data still stored on their servers, that was supposed to be deleted, as soon as the victim paid a ransom.

For reference, in the year 2020 or during the Covid 19 Crisis, when Dopplepaymer Ransomware gang targeted a hospital in Germany, a patient died due to the emergency services suffering because of digital crisis. As a result, with a kind heart, Dopplepaymer gang chose to return the decryption key to the victimized hospital and helped the healthcare recover information cent percent.

Previously, Conti, Darkside and other groups also have shown their good side, by donating bitcoins received from ransom payments to charities and other humane organizations.

Google issues data extortion email warnings to employees

Google, the web search giant of the world has issued a warning email to all employees using Oracle E-Business Suite. As its research discovered that some high-level employees based in different sectors were receiving data extortion emails from hackers, claiming to have stolen data from the servers after exploiting a vulnerability in the software giant.

The Alphabet Inc’s subsidiary has linked the crime to Clop ransomware gang and assured to release more details, as its investigations begin to unfold.

A deep investigation is pending on whether the email content has any IOTA of truth in it or is just a ploy to fool people, just to mint money or to tarnish the image of the organizations in public.
