Although many organizations are using email protection solutions, millions of email attacks are still going undetected in corporate networks, says a research carried out by Barracuda.

Barracuda Email Threat Scanner was used to scan the computer networks of 4550 organizations and out 2,600,531 mailboxes, over 2,029,413 were found to be targeted by unique cyber attacks.

So, on an average around 512 organizations were found to be hitting the networks of organizations out of which 14% of threats were already found to be incubating inside.

Security researchers say that threats like phishing, scamming, extortion and business email compromise were found to be hitting the businesses on a serious note in 2020.

“Spear phishing threats are more severe, as it involves a lot of sophistication by hackers and often go undetected by email gateways. So, it is better to use API based inboxes to raise the defense-line to maximize their protection”, says Don Maclennan, SVP, Engineering and Product Management, Email Protection, Barracuda.

Barracuda offers a better email protection solution in the name of Email Threat Scanning and is free to be used to detect all variants of threats that go past the email gateways. The solution is automated and is inclusive of a threat detection dashboard that makes it easy to detect threats by helping to track down specific insights and explicate the findings.

As the solution can be integrated into Office 365, it makes it easy to track threats of a user’s mail system that usually gateways cannot foresee.
