Unconfirmed reports say that the American Multi National Media Company Nielsen’s has suffered a cyber attack because of which the collection of TV ratings will be delayed by a day or two.

Releasing a press statement on late Tuesday, the Media services company stated that an unexpected disruption has made its officials seize some operations, but did not mention any details about the attack as it could affect the company reputation on the long run.

Thus, because of the disruption, the TV Audience Measurements data related to the shows played on various Australian Television channels will get disrupted.

A team of experts are already working to fix the issue which is expected to be restored to normalcy by the early hours of Wednesday i.e. July 22nd, 2020.

Note 1- Headquartered in New York City of United States, Nielsen Corporation is known to gather reliable information about audience viewership related to Print and Media markets in countries like Australia, Canada, UK and USA. From the past decade, Nielsen is helping its clients to gain insights on consumer behavior and the markets located in about 120 regions. And its service includes conducting over 20k surveys per year related to radio, newspaper, television viewing, leisure activities, shopping trends, and magazine readership.

Note 2- In the past few years, cyber attacks on large multi-national corporations have increased as cyber criminals are seen exploiting data intensive networks to steal classical information that has a lot of demand on the dark web.

Note 3- A dark web is a part of the web where web users cannot search the information via normal search engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo as the data is highly encrypted making it difficult for the search pools to index the data.
