Technology-based legal services provider Epiq Global has made it official that its corporate digital services were pulled down offline due to a ransomware attack. The company’s website is offline from early Monday and the web-page notifies that it is down for maintenance.

News is out that the company’s IT staff detected that its database was accessed in an unauthorized way on February 29th of this year i.e Saturday and discovered that it was due to a file-encrypting malware attack.

Authorities from Epiq Global say that their investigation has revealed that there is no indication that their systems were misused, and exfiltrated or the data on them was transmitted to external servers.

According to a circular being circulated internally, all staff members have been asked to switch off the Wi-Fi services on their devices to contain the ransomware spread. Also, a source revealed that the ransomware infection spread on the PCs of the company as they were operating on older versions of Windows Operating systems which were never ‘Up to date’ security and software wise.

Note- Catherine Ostheimer, the spokesperson of Epiq declined to accept the fact that the company’s digital systems were down by ransomware nor did she divulge any details related to the impacted systems & operations.
