Lindy Cameron, the head of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has openly announced that Russia launches devastating ransomware attacks on its critical infrastructure.

The lady also expressed her anguish on how the Putin led government was showing a deaf ear against their repeated complaints n reminders on how hackers from Russian country were launching cyber warfare across the globe on a digital note.

Lindy said that Vladimir Putin led Russia has been posing as a serious threat to major companies, councils and schools operating in its region from long time. And it’s high time her nation retaliates with a similar approach to bring the entire nation’s digital infrastructure to a halt.

Disclosing her mind at the Chatham House Cyber 2021 Conference, the Ms. Cameron alerted all the organizations to be well equipped with their defense-line against cyber attacks, especially those of ransomware genre.

In this summer, a dip in the launch of cyber attacks was observed. However, it was because most of the hackers took holidays and not because of any shift in the model of doing business, says Lindy, the CEO of NCSE.

Cameron added that most of the cyber threat actors were interested in stealing COVID related research information from the past 8 months and now they have indulged in COVID themed attacks for scamming the populace.

Note- Ms. Lindy also referred to the ongoing controversy over NSO Group developed Pegasus Software, a spyware that is sold to governments through a proper channel to conduct espionage of its populace.
