SYDNEY AND SINGAPORE, 12 February 2018 – Bitglass, the Next-Gen CASB company, is accelerating its global expansion with the appointment of David Shephard as the company’s Vice President of Sales for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). David’s charter is to build on Bitglass’ existing presence in APJ, capitalizing on growing demand for cloud and mobile security.

Based in Sydney, Shephard brings extensive experience in cyber security having spent the past 15 years driving revenue growth and customer engagement for organisations including Tanium, Telstra and RSA, The Security Division of EMC.

Shephard will now be responsible for building on the early success Bitglass has achieved in the Asia Pacific and Japan region, with a focus on establishing key markets, new channel partner recruitment and enablement and enterprise account development.

“Given the tremendous demand for cloud and mobile security in the region, we are excited to be growing our team and presence under David’s leadership” said Dean Hickman-Smith, SVP of Worldwide Field Operations at Bitglass. “David understands what it takes to build a presence in new markets and has a proven record of implementing successful go-to-market strategies.”

“I’m delighted to have joined Bitglass at this exciting time where adoption of Cloud and Mobile is accelerating,” said Dave Shephard, VP APAC. “Data that moves beyond the firewall and is accessible from unmanaged endpoints presents a range of risks. Enterprises are actively looking for more effective security technologies like cloud access security brokers that help solve real problems.”

According to Gartner’s Steve Riley and Craig Lawson in Magic Quadrant for Cloud Access Security Brokers, “By 2020, 60 percent of large enterprises will use a CASB to govern cloud services, up from less than 10 percent today.”*
