Cheddar Scratch Kitchen confirms 570,000 payment card info leak

Texas-based Restaurant brand Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, formerly known as Cheddar’s Casual Cafe has been hit by a cyber attack. And sources say that nearly 570,000 payment card info was compromised in the incident.

Sources reporting to Cybersecurity Insiders say that the data breach occurred between November 3rd,  2017 and January 2nd, 2018 a few of the legacy point of sale systems were hacked and accessed by cyber crooks. The leaked info includes data related to customers who visited the restaurant in 23 states in the past 11 months or so.

A third party cyber security firm has been pressed into service to investigate the incident and evaluate the impact. And the restaurant chain authorities have informed the law enforcement about the incident on Thursday.

Free identity protection services to customers will be offered by Cheddar and detailed information about the incident has been provided on the official website of the American cuisine establishment.

Its said that customers from North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Missouri, Michigan, Maryland, Louisiana, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Florida, Delaware, Arizona, Alabama, Kansas were impacted.

Note- Founded in 1979. the restaurant operates in more than 163 locations in 23 states and is known to serve menu ranging from salads to appetizers and several lunch combos.
