Heathrow Airport is reportedly under a cyber attack that has caused significant disruptions over the past few hours. Passengers are unable to check in or access essential services like baggage handling and boarding. New reports suggest that this issue is affecting multiple airports across Europe, with Russian hackers suspected to be behind the attack.
Initial investigations indicate that the attack targeted the MUSE software, which is owned by Collins Aerospace. This has caused major technical failures at airports including Heathrow, Brussels, and Berlin.
Notably, the timing of the attack coincides with heightened military tensions, as Russia has reportedly begun launching airstrikes on NATO member countries.
Within a few hours of the incident, an anonymous source on a Telegram channel claimed that the cyber assault could be attributed to DragonForce Ransomware, a group linked to Scattered Spider. The same source warned that more attacks are expected, potentially targeting critical infrastructure across the UK and other NATO nations.
Some security analysts felt that this could be a retaliation for the arrests linked to the Scattered Spider gang made by UK and US forces.
