Hack The Box (HTB), a leading cybersecurity readiness platform for the human-AI workforce, has launched AI Range Enterprise Edition, extending its industry-first platform for evaluating and measuring AI security agent effectiveness to enterprise security teams. The offering allows organizations to assess whether their AI agents can perform assigned cybersecurity roles and make evidence-based decisions about deploying agents across the workforce.
While organizations routinely evaluate employees to determine whether they can meet the requirements of their roles, AI agents may not undergo equivalent assessments. Security teams may deploy agents after they perform well in a benchmark or vendor evaluation, without validating their capabilities against the actual tasks they will be expected to handle on an ongoing basis. Changes to models, software, data inputs and threats can also affect agent performance over time.
HTB launched AI Range in December 2025 as the first platform in the market designed to test AI security agents in controlled cyber environments. The platform has since undergone rigorous testing by AI labs, government customers and hyperscalers. AI Range Enterprise Edition builds on this foundation, introducing a role-based appraisal process that enables security teams to assess their own AI agents against defined job requirements.
HTB’s Cyber Workforce Development strategy combines human and agent capabilities through two areas of innovation:
- Agentic Worker Competence: AI Range Enterprise Edition enables organizations to evaluate their own AI agents against defined cybersecurity roles and establish recurring, evidence-based validation that each agent can perform a specific role to the expected standard.
- Agentic Operator Competence Scoring: Through AI-augmented roles, organizations can apply HTB’s proprietary, industry-first scoring system to assess whether cybersecurity professionals possess the judgment needed to challenge AI-generated work and intervene when appropriate. AI-augmented penetration tester and SOC analyst roles are available now, with additional cybersecurity roles planned for the coming months.
“As AI takes on more cybersecurity tasks, leaders need confidence in both sides of the workforce,” said Haris Pylarinos, Founder and CEO of Hack The Box. “They need to know that agents can do the jobs they are being given, but they also need people with the expertise and judgment to direct that work, verify it and step in when needed. Building cyber readiness means developing human capability and understanding agent capability together.”
Ongoing Appraisal for AI Agents
HTB’s Agentic Worker Competence methodology is designed to establish whether an AI agent can perform a specific job role to the required standard under realistic conditions. AI Range Enterprise Edition delivers role-based scores, pass-or-fail outcomes for individual environments and visibility into performance trends over time.
HTB continually introduces new environments reflecting emerging vulnerabilities and attack patterns while preserving the integrity of the appraisal process. Organizations can reassess agents as models, software, data sets and operating conditions evolve, helping them determine whether an agent’s performance has improved, deteriorated or remained consistent.
“Connect the agent, assign it a role and let it work,” said Gerasimos Marketos, Chief Product Officer at Hack The Box. “AI Range records how the agent handles the task independently, including where it succeeds and where it struggles. Security leaders can use those results to decide what work an agent is ready to take on and where human oversight is still needed.”
Building the Judgment to Direct AI
As AI agents become increasingly integrated into daily cybersecurity operations, practitioners must take greater responsibility for directing their activities, reviewing their decisions and intervening when necessary.
HTB’s AI-augmented roles integrate these responsibilities into established cybersecurity workflows, helping organizations develop and measure the capabilities professionals need to work effectively with AI in areas such as penetration testing and security operations. The AI-augmented SOC Analyst role, for example, places practitioners in realistic scenarios in which they use AI to assess alerts, investigate suspicious activity and evaluate recommended responses.
Agentic Operator Competence Scoring evaluates the judgment practitioners apply when working with AI through hands-on cybersecurity scenarios. The assessment examines whether professionals can identify errors in an agent’s reasoning, understand the rationale behind its recommendations and determine when intervention is necessary. It also evaluates their ability to recognize situations in which AI-driven work can proceed without unnecessary human interference.
Industry Recognition
Hack The Box was named a Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Cybersecurity Skills and Training Platforms, Q1 2026, earning the highest possible score in the report’s Agentic AI Readiness criterion. Gartner also recognized HTB as a Sample Vendor for Cyber Ranges in the Hype Cycle for Security Operations, 2026.
