Microsoft to acquire cyber security firm Hexadite

Microsoft, the world renowned software giant is said to have acquired cyber security firm named Hexadite for $100 million. Israeli Financial news website Calcalist disclosed this news to the world and said that the deal has already taken a shape and will be completed by next month.

Hexadite is a company which uses Artificial Intelligence to detect network attacks on SMBs- which can run up to 10K a month for larger organizations. Technically speaking, the company leverages AI to apply targeted mitigation to stop security breaches in their tracks.

Almost a month ago, few tech websites reported that Microsoft is interested in buying Cloudyn, a company that monitors and optimizes business operations of any form across multi-vendor cloud architectures. The websites reported that the tech giant is interested in investing over $80 million on Cloudyn business.

In the meantime, Calcalist spilled the news that Microsoft has already purchased Hexadite for $100 million.

According to Crunchbase, Hexadite has investors like HP ventures, YL ventures, TenEleven Ventures and Moshe Lichtman as Venture Partners. The said Boston-based company which has a research segment in Israel will now on be funded by Microsoft in order to build solutions based on machine learning and AI modeled cyber analysis to tackle all kinds of threats in cyberspace.

Remember, in January this year, Microsoft reported that it plans to invest more than $1 billion on an annual note in cyber security research and development business. And its latest acquisition proves the point that the Windows OS giant is following its business objective.

Note- Till date, Microsoft has acquired companies like Aorato, Adallom, and Secure Islands and pretty soon, Hexadite is going to join the list of cyber security companies owned by Microsoft.
