Carnival Corporation, an American-British Cruise travelling services offering company has made it official that its servers were cyber attacked with ransomware on August 15th, 2020 disrupting a portion of its information technology systems related to a particular brand.

The incident came into light when the world’s largest travel, leisure company was struggling to cope up with the monthly business expenses as almost all of its ships and cruises were suspended because of the spread on COVID 19.

Carnival has started an investigation on this note and stated that it has notified the law enforcement about the attack and has taken all measure to contain the spread to other of its brands.

The second news related to ransomware attack happens to be related to the renowned malt maker of US ‘Brown Forman’. Although the company admitted that its IT infrastructure was targeted by cyber criminals spreading file encrypting malware, it claims that the incident was contained in the right time- all thanks to the threat monitoring solutions installed in its data centers.

The maker of Jack Daniel Whisky admitted that it’s working with the law enforcement and a 3rd party to mitigate the risks and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

However, Sodinokibi ransomware group that is responsible to spread data siphoning malware has announced that its hackers have managed to steal over 1TB of corporate data that might be leaked online, if the makers of the brewery don’t bow down to its ransom demands.

To prove its stance, the REvil ransomware group aka Sodinokibi has shared some screenshots of the company’s stolen data dating back over to 10 years.

Konica Minolta, a Japan-based technology giant, is also trending on Google news headlines for relatively becoming a victim to ransomware. RansomEXX Ransomware, a new variant of file encrypting malware is said to be used to lock down the files of Konica Minolta from access, and as per the sources the newly discovered malware variant doesn’t have the potential to steal files and only encrypts files until a ransom is paid.

Reports are in that the incident could have taken place in the last week of August 2020 as customers and the company staff experienced disruptions while accessing the company’s website related to product supply and support and the printers functioning.
