Aliens can cyber attack our Earth’s digital infrastructure

Surprised on seeing the headline? But astrophysicists argue that there is a high possibility of aliens’ cyberattacking our earth’s digital infrastructure in near future. And the only way to avoid risks is to destroy anything beyond simple messages from them.

Well, it might look like a script of an upcoming Independence Day movie series or Intruders. But scientists scouring the sky say that intelligent alien race might attack our digital infrastructure before conducting a hostile invasion.

In a recent whitepaper released by a team of astrophysicists from the University of Hawaii, it is written that aliens can transmit complex messages to hack and wipe out earth based computer systems or can just transmit panic drive threats which could spell doomsday for the entire mankind.

Titled as “Interstellar Communication IX Message Decontamination is Impossible” the paper states that aliens or Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (ETI) will find it cheaper to send malicious messages to eradicate humans compared to sending battleships.

According to the John G Learned who is leading the research, the cyber threat from aliens can be in several forms. One such basic level of attack is a malicious message which states “we will make your sun go supernova tomorrow”.

The researchers say that the likelihood of being attacked by aliens is low. But at the same time, they argue that aliens could transmit complex messages embedded with viruses which could eventually lead to shut down of our computers or cause technical problems within no time.

Scientists studying the sky say that a disaster having such a merit could only be averted if the messages are received by one facility. But if the same is picked up by several locations then containment will be tough.

To prevent any disaster, messages received by ETI should be destroyed on suspicion and this mainly includes those containing codes.

Seth Shostak, a senior astronomer from the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute from Sacramento agrees to what is being said in the paper. Reciprocating his insights, Seth says that there is high profile evidence that aliens are super-sophisticated and so they can accomplish anything if they want or desire to do so.

Seth likes to specifically warn all those individuals who are conducting a research on the presence of aliens and their whereabouts across the world. He wants them to conduct their research and communication with aliens on the computer which are not connected or linked to any network. If they try to oversee this issue, then he warns them that their mistakes could put the future of entire mankind into jeopardy.
