China linked Cyber Attack on News Corp

American Media Company News Corp aka News Corporation was hit by a cyber attack early last month and news is out that the hackers have accessed sensitive documents from emails belonging to journalists and few of the high-level staff members.

News Corp owner Rupert Murdoch has ordered for a detailed probe on this issue and suspects that it was a state sponsored attack that China could have fielded.

For your information, News Corporation is the company that owns the Wall Street Journal and is also holding a large share in Times and the Sun.

Security analysts from Mandiant discovered the foreign invasion on the servers of New York based company on January 20th,2022 and concluded that the purpose was to collect intelligence to support the interests of Beijing.

Christopher Wray, the director of FBI accused the Xi Jinping led nation for stealing high volumes of information and said in a stern tone that his nation wonā€™t tolerate such attacks on journalists and companies.

Both Trump and the current US President Joe Biden never tolerated the negated cyber activities of China and have been warning it of ill consequences if it did not mend its ways on time.

However, after the break-out of Covid-19 pandemic, the attention of the world diverted on containing it and this gave enough time to the republican nation to build up its cyber power to launch more sophisticated cyber attacks.

Cyber Attack on News Corporation subsidiaries is one such example of sophisticated Chinese invasion and reminds us again on how vulnerable or helpless we are for mitigating the risks associated with the cyber warfare.
