A research carried out by fraud detection firm SEON has ranked Denmark as the safest nation to spend time online, followed by Germany and United States. Releasing a report on this note, security researchers compiled their report based on the information passed on by the National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) and the Global Cybersecurity Index 2020.
SEON backed report dubbed Cybersecurity Exposure Index (CEI) of 2020 clearly specified that the populace of Denmark seeking online services as the anti-cyber crime legislation that nation was strict enough to punish culprits in relation to cyber-crime.
Germany stood second in the index with a score of 8.76 in the Global Cybersecurity Index score followed by United States- thanks to the comprehensive security laws and regulations. Then at the fourth position was Norway with a score of 8.46, followed by UK with a Cybersecurity index score of 8.44 and Canada with a score of 8.35 and standing in the list at the fifth position and Australia, Japan, along with Netherlands standing at later positions thereafter.
Contrarily, Myanmar led the list of countries that gained the lowest score in internet safety with a score of 2.22 followed by Cambodia, Honduras, Bolivia and Mongolia respectively.
As per the Internet Crime Complaints Center of US statistics, the most common cyber crime prevailing in United States was found to be phishing followed by ransomware related extortion.
Researchers from SEON have also found that data breaches in countries like US and Canada were also increasing-all because of the negligence shown by the management of companies and individuals lacking the knowledge of following basic cybersecurity hygiene while online.
