Cybercriminals stole $615 million in cryptocurrency from a blockchain network, Ronin- connected to the popular gaming website Axie Infinity. And the surprising fact about this cyber incident is the fact that it was discovered after a week of its occurrence.
Sources reporting to our Cybersecurity Insiders say the cybercriminals stole around 173,600 Ether Tokens and 25.5 million USD in the heist that took place on March 23rd, 2022, and was identified only on March 29th,2022.
Ronin Blockchain has started an inquiry and is busy digging down the facts on how the cyber crooks stole private keys and the passwords to access crypto funds.
Huobi, a crypto exchange service, has pledged that it will support Axie Infinity and its users interested in play-to-earn games.
Axie is happy that the tokens used by users to play games weren’t compromised, and so the SLP and AXS currencies are safe and still purposeful.
Meanwhile, after the hack was made public, the price of RON, a token used in Ronin Blockchain, dropped by 22% and the AXS token price dropped by 8.5%, according to CoinMarketCap.
Meanwhile, in another incident that involves cryptocurrency steal, those who siphoned funds from Cashio hack have pledged to return 50% of stolen funds as they do not want to shatter the dreams of those who invested their hard-earned cash into crypto.
It seems the hacker or the hacking group that launched an attack on Stablecoin Cashio is operating with a Robinhood philosophy, where they steal funds from the rich and distribute them to the poor and needy.
