NeFilim Ransomware attack on Orange Business Solutions

1991

France based Orange Telecom Services provider made it official through Bleeping computer that its Enterprise Solution’s division was targeted by NeFilim Ransomware Operators who later exposed information related to twenty business customers on their website.

Orange that has over 266 million customers and 148,000 employees operates an enterprise business division that offers solutions such as cloud backups, system security, hosting, virtual servers, and remote support. And the news is out that data related to the business division customers was accessed by the Nefilim Ransomware group.

As per the details available to our Cybersecurity Insiders, hackers infiltrated the database of Orange Business Solutions on July 5th of this year and started to publish the stolen info on their news resource from July 15th, 2020. As of now, information related to 339MB archives files were published.

RansomLeaks, a twitter account run by ransomware analysts say the leaked information contains emails, the schema of an airplane, and some scripted files related to ATR Aircrafts, manufacturing of flying machines from France.

So, one can easily confirm that hackers related to Nefilim Ransomware have gained access to the ATR Aircraft data from the Orange Le Forfait Informatique platform as the latter happens to be the official customer of the 4th largest telecom company in Europe.

Note- Nefilim Ransomware is a newly developed ransomware distributed through various means like spam emails, P2P File Sharing, Free Software, Malicious websites, Torrent websites, and vulnerable RDP platforms. As most of the tech teams are working from home due to the lockdown imposed worldwide because of the spread of COVID 19, ransomware attacks through exposed RDP platforms have increased in recent times.
