Ransomware attack on US Cybersecurity firm Verint

New York-based cybersecurity firm Verint Systems has made it official that some of its IT infrastructure were down due to an impact from a ransomware attack. What’s intriguing in this story is that the same firm alerts around 180 multinational companies about possible cyber attacks on their infrastructure on a yearly note.

Cybersecurity Insiders has learned that the on-premise email and Green zone systems i.e. Virtual desktop infrastructure was greatly disrupted by the cyber attack and details of the disruption on other applications are yet to be known.

As per a source from Verint, all employees of the company have been asked to immediately report to IT helpdesk if their systems start to show up the ransom message.

FireEye’s Mandiant security team is reported to be on the premise of Verint systems to investigate the incident. And recovery efforts put on by both the companies are going on in full swing.

Note- 2002 founded Melville based company has over 10,000 clients located over 150 countries and has over 2,780 employees located in various locations on an international note. Although the company offers operations from its US Office mostly, it approximately has half of its employees located in Israel. In the year 2017, Verint Systems has received millions of dollars in government contractors for installing video surveillance solutions in airports, shipping ports, and government facilities. This includes installation of biometrics, tracking systems, video analysis, and intelligent video surveillance systems.
