Saudi Arabia to depend on Huawei for National AI Development Programme

Saudi Arabia is all set to depend on Huawei on the kingdom’s National Artificial Intelligence Development Programme. The National Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), a subsidiary of Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority(SDAIA) has approached the Chinese Telecom giant for the development of AI strategy execution and AI innovation in its region.

Thus, under the latest memorandum of understanding, Huawei is all set to support AI engineers and students in Saudi to address or AI related issues and capabilities in Arabic language.

The idea is to create AI solutions in localized language- all a part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals and upskill the Saudis in data and AI management driven talent.

“Huawei has adopted an ambitious goal of engaging in a long-term research and development strategy regarding AI, creating a synergy for AI in 5G connectivity, cloud computing and industrial application. We look forward to collaborating with SDAIA to create tech domains, in local language, to pave way for the kingdom to lead in data driven technologies”, said Charles Yang, President of Huawei Middle East.

Note 1- Saudi Arabia is witnessing a shortage of skills in AI talent in both public and private sector. And Huawei is set to train the Saudi University students, researchers and developers in such a way that they master AI technologies and tools to the fullest.

Note 2- Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) was announced at the Global AI Summit 2020.
