Sophos to strengthen security in multi-cloud environments

Migrating data and apps to multi-cloud platforms is a win-win situation to many companies as it brings in cost savings, adds agility and help take full advantage of DevOps process to speed up development and product delivery. However, it also invites new trouble where hackers are seen as easily targeting multi-cloud networks.

In a recent survey conducted by Sophos, researchers devised 10 cloud honeypots placed worldwide which took cyber criminals no time to discover the SSH service and login attempts to gain access to the data. In one instance, a honeypot was also hacked within 1 minute of installation which states how sophistically these hackers are determined when it comes to infiltrating public platforms.

Thus, to save multi-cloud environments from cyber attacks, Sophos has come up with a new offering in its Public Cloud Security line-up. Sophos Cloud Optix is an AI interpreted powerful tool which helps simplify compliance, governance, and security monitoring in the cloud- that too within a 9-minute span.

Sophos argues that it’s new offering Cloud Optix helps users monitor data and apps stored on multi-cloud networks with the help of a network inventory visualization, topology envisage and continuous asset monitoring ability.

Also as changing environments need continuous compliance, detection of changes in an automated way is the need of the hour for multi-cloud users.

Sophos Cloud Optix solves this issue by offering continuous and consistent monitoring of compliance capabilities, with customized templates such as SOC2, HIPAA and GDPR report generation in a few minutes.

Hence, cloud users can remain assured that their IT assets are safe and secure from malware and other cyber attacks.

In a report compiled by the researchers of Sophos early this year, cloud servers are reported to be subjected to attacks for every 13 minutes. So, for instance, if you leave your data open for access on any public cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, then it might land up in the hands of hackers within no time.

Hereā€™s where Cloud Optix offers a range of threat detection and response solutions where networks can be sieved for suspicious traffic and for shared access keys.
