John McAfee Twitter Account Hacked!

John McAfee, owner of California based Security Software Company McAfee Associates has announced to the world that his Twitter Account was hacked last week and was being used to promote obscure cryptocurrencies.Ā

The 73-year old tech pioneer added in his statement that the breach was in no way related to his companyā€™s inefficient cybersecurity credentials, saying ā€œI have no control over Twitterā€™s Securityā€.

McAfee who is a British born American is also known as a political activist in the United States as he filed a nomination for the 2016 Presidential post of United States via Libertarian Party.

Twitter is yet to comment on the issue but highlighted its cybersecurity guidelines in one of its recent tweet stressing on the need for the two-stage authentication to be activated by its users.

McAfee who currently has more than 530,000 followers on Twitter believes that somehow the cyber crooks first got hold of his mobile phone and then hacked his twitter account.

Speaking to the BBC news early this morning, the Gloucestershire, England born programmer turned businessman said that bad guys first intercepted his AT&T mobile network to get into his Twitter account and promote less known cryptocurrencies. As he was on a boat enjoying his vacation he couldnā€™t take the help of his network provider or Twitter on this issue.

Readers of Cybersecurity Insiders have to notify a fact over here that the former presidential candidate is currently working on plans to sell the worldā€™s most ā€œ Hack Proofā€ Smartphone which could be launched in March 2018.
