Indianapolis based Technology Company LifeOmic has announced first of its kind $1 million guarantees to the healthcare information technology industry against cyber attacks and ransomware breaches. The company is said to offer the said amount as a guarantee for the data stored on its platform by healthcare providers against all variants of cyber threats.

LifeOmic has also added that the said figure of guarantee is in addition to any contractual obligations it makes under HIPAA resulting in an override of negotiated business associate agreements.

Nowadays, as hackers are seen often targeting companies operating in healthcare sectors, exploits such as WannaCry make patient data extremely vulnerable to hackers. LifeOmic is said to raise the security bar by offering a specifically designed cloud platform from the ground up to meet modern cybersecurity needs and protect the stored sensitive data from virus, malware or hacking attacks.

“These days data stored on Cloud is being targeted by hackers. And clients storing their valuable data has to take a cyber insurance policy to cover costs associated with data breaches. LifeOmic reduces the burden of running around the insurance firms by offering a 100% guarantee against cyber attacks including those of ransomware variants”, said Erkang Zheng, the Chief Information Security Officer at Lifeomic.

LifeOmic which offers secured cloud platform for the long-term storage, retrieval, analysis and clinical use of genomics and other digital information said that all its active customers are immediately eligible for the guarantee and new customers will be automatically covered from day 1 of service. Moreover, the guarantee is being provided free of cost.
