As the death toll of patients infected with Coronavirus has surpassed the figure of 380 yesterday in China, security analysts from Kaspersky have concluded that hackers are now using the name of the deadly Wuhan Virus for a new variant of ransomware infections, malware, and other cyber threats campaigns.

Malicious infections in the name of Wuhan Coronavirus are now reported to be circulating in the digital world and researchers fear that more such cyber threats in the name of the deadly China virus are here to come.

In general, China-born Coronavirus is a kind of respiratory infection that spread among humans living in China and the world at a rapid note. So, for over 17,000(figures on how many blood samples have turned positive is yet to be known) cases have been reported across the globe.

As this virus is hitting all search engine news headlines, cybercriminals, especially in the west, are seen using the name of the Wuhan Virus as a keyword to launch malicious campaigns in the digital world.

So far, researchers have found that 10 unique files dubbed as Coronavirus spread related document (PDF, MP4, and Docx) were found to be circulating on the web which was filled with malevolent infections such as file-encrypting malware, crypto-mining malware and browser details siphoning digital adjectives and those which exfiltrate sensitive data.

Usually, news stories that hit the headlines, and high profile people & event names are used in the digital world by hackers to launch cyber scams and attacks. But Kasperskyā€™s researchers say that they are now also using the name of life-threatening epidemics which shows how low these guys can stoop to make money when the rest of the human world is suffering.
