Australian government has for the first time announced a cyber security skills program that will act as a $14.9 million initiative in training and hiring fresh batch of professional talent in Cybersecurity Science.

Questcon’s Cyber Ready Program that has study material and training modules for students across primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.

Melissa Price, the Information and Technology Minister of Australia, asked companies to consider the program that not only offers a fix to existing online threats, but will also ensure the existing void of talent scarcity is fixed in the cyber field.

The Cyber Ready Program from Questcom will add as an additional certification to the existing Engineering in Elementary Program to improve digital systems, IT infrastructure of utilities and AI themed expert learning in cyber security by Australian students.

Australian critical infrastructure has been facing increasing amounts of cyber threats since the beginning of the year 2021, leading to identity thefts, hacks from state funded actors and organized criminals, spread of disinformation, and growth of dark web crime.

To counter such threats of retaliation, Australia is coming up with cyber security programs from time to time that help the nation in achieving economic prosperity and long-term security.

Note- From September 2020 to July 2021, Australia has witnessed a 300% surge in the ransomware attacks that targeted its public and private entities on a severe note since then. So, the government led by Scott Morrison has organized cyber awareness campaigns for small and medium scale business to help fix issues in their current cybersecurity posture. The Australian Cyber Security Centre is also ready to train employees of SMBs against existing cyber threats such as malware attacks and banking frauds.
