Last week, UK government released a press statement holding responsible North Korean leader Kim Jong UN for the Wannacry ransomware attack which crippled NHS hospital group for weeks. The statement was released by Britainās security Minister Ben Wallace and strongly indicted Pyongyang for the ransomware spread.
Today North Korea strongly responded to the claims saying that the baseless accusations were made to incriminate the Democratic Peopleās Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Jonathan Cheng, a reporter at Korean Central News agency and the one who claims to be a spokesperson for Kim Jong government said that UKās attempt to incriminate the DPRK as a cyber criminal will not be tolerated by Kim Jong anymore.
Cheng said in the statement that North Korea opposes terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and has no intention to conduct espionage or cyber attacks on any country or region.
The spokesperson condemned Ben Wallaceās radio interview of October 27th, 2017 and openly said that all such attempts to malign the reputation of North Korea on the world platform could invite trouble to Britain in coming weeks.
Meanwhile, GCHQ has warned the Britain Government that NHS can be crippled by more ransomware attacks in coming days and suggested it go with some proactive measures which could safeguard the hospital networkās cyber defenses.
In May 2017, Wannacry Ransomware attack hit more than 230,000 computers across the globe. It mainly disrupted systems in America, Europe, Canada and Australia.
Note- Ransomware is a kind of malware variant which infects a computer system and then encrypts a database until a ransom is paid.
