Russian Hackers using Britney Spears to empty bank accounts

Russian hackers who could be state funded by Moscow have devised a new plan to empty the bank accounts of innocent victims across the world. They are now hiding messages in the comments of Britney Spears Instagram account which could lead to sophisticated watering hole attacks.

As per a post published in Daily Mail, hackers are using hidden coded instructions to malware on the pop singerā€™s post which could target innocent victims and could also empty their bank accounts in a concealed form.

The UK news resource published that a Russian hackers group named Turla, which is linked to Putinā€™s cyber intelligence unit are launching the said attacks. They are infecting the computers and phones using a fake Firefox plug-in and are tricking people to download the fake plug-in from reputable websites.

And as soon as the victim downloads the plug-in, it allows the hackers to monitor everything typed in the browser of the victim which includes passwords, personal details, and bank details.

The Russian hackers are using Britney Spears raunchy posts on Instagram as a nurturing platform to post links and codes related to the malware in order to spread it around the world. So, indirectly, Britney Spearā€™s Instagram posts are offering criminals a back door into other peopleā€™s computers and phones by acting as a secret messaging system.

Our sources have no idea on how many celebrity accounts could be acting as malware spreading platforms till now.

But a Swiss security company called We Live Security has been pressed into service by the manager of the ā€˜Baby one more timeā€™ actress to probe into the details of this new form of cyber attack.

And so more details are awaited!
