UK’s Home Secretary Amber Rudd has announced a crackdown on the dark web as she feels that the ploy could curb criminals from exploiting the anonymous web in pursuit of Child Po$$graphy, drug deals, guns, credit scams and other such illegal activities.

Amber announced that the government of United Kingdom has set aside £9 million to do a clean-up of the dark web and is confident that the officials could complete this task by this year.

Speaking to media after the CYBERUK Conference in Manchester organized by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), a cyber unit of GCHQ, Amber said that Russia stands as a nation countering the biggest threat to the UK.

She also took the opportunity to disclose that Britain has been hit by 49 cyber attacks from Russia in the past 6 months. And most of them were on the energy, telecom and media sectors that were highlighted by Britain Prime Minister Theresa May in November last year.

After the WannaCry ransomware attack which hit NHS in May last year, Amber Rudd called for a COBRA (Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms) meeting about the cyber attack and has been doing it several times since then- all for the national security.

Britain is all set to initiate a first cybercrime exercise by the end of next month to soon test the responses of the country’s cyber defenses. The home secretary also disclosed that all those nations which are posing as a severe cyber threat to London will have to face serious consequences in coming months.

The United Kingdom along with the United States appears to be serious about the ongoing cyber threats coming from China, North Korea, and Russia.

The other day, the 45th US President Donald Trump warned Russia for trumpeting about their sophisticated weaponry of Assad and for launching a chemical attack on Syria which killed several women and children.

From last month, the UK Prime Minister Theresa May is seen constantly asking for a response from the Vladimir Putin government against the Nerve Agent Attack on Russian SPY turned UK intelligence officer’s Skripal’s death due to poisoning.

Vladimir Putin, on the other hand, has rebuked all the allegations put forward by Trump administration and Theresa May and said that they are just imaginary illusions of a bunch of whites.
